THE NEIGHBOURHOOD
The studio is nestled in our mini paradise. With beach lounging, lake swimming, cross country ski trails on the neighbouring golf course in winter, and even fishing if you bring your tackle, you may never need to leave! But for those who love to explore, with 4 golf courses, an archery range, Sandilands Provincial Forest, La Broquerie and the city of Steinbach nearby, there is always somewhere new to discover. Steinbach is less than 15 minutes away by car; it has ample options for groceries, shopping and restaurants. Be mindful that some retail stores in Steinbach may be closed on Sundays. La Broquerie has a lovely, accessible walking path about 10 minutes away, and Sandilands Forest offers a large network of trails only 20 minutes from Painted Turtle Lake. We recommend the AllTrails app to find local hikes; message us and Lisa can share her favourites through the app. During the golfing off-season we are also permitted to enjoy walking our neighbouring Quarry Oaks Golf Course (some restrictions apply). Rent our snowshoes to enjoy crispy winter walks through the golf course grounds! Watch for the snowshoe add-on during your booking & rental contract process.
EXPLORING OUR PROPERTY
Painted Turtle Lake is a mini lake with a big personality! It is 2 acres in size and nearly 30 feet deep, fed by a network of underground streams. Our acreage has private access to the beach and lakefront (shared between guests, host family, and upstairs tenants), as the entire west shore sits against our yard while the opposite shore borders Quarry Oaks Golf Course.

SUMMER LOUNGING
Sunbathe, canoe, picnic, swim or bring your tackle to fish for jackfish in Painted Turtle Lake.
WINTER WONDERLAND
Rent our snowshoes or bring your own cross-country skis to enjoy spending time on the golf course grounds (please follow the instructions listed in our House Manual to use their property with respect). Add a snowshoe rental during your checkout process on stays between December 1 - March 15.

MJ’s Kafe
Local Mennonite cuisine done right. Our local mainstay on the food scene is a multi-generational venture that does traditional food like Grandma always made it and plays with modern takes on local culture as well.

Great atmosphere and wood fired pizza! Enjoy a stroll around Sunshine Greenhouse and boutique after your meal.

A delicious assortment of freshly baked goods. You have to try their cruffins!

Tetrault Park
Well groomed, wheelchair accessible 1.3 mile walking/running trail in Labroquerie, just 10 mins from Painted Turtle Lake.
A.D. Penner Park
The largest and most beautiful park in Steinbach, right next to the golf course and aquatic centre. Baseball diamonds, park for kids, BMX track, sledding hill in winter, picnic areas and a pond with a bridge and ducks. Access to walking trails that lead around Steinbach.
Sandilands Provincial Forest
A mixed deciduous‐coniferous forest with trails maintained by the Provincial Government. Sandilands is known for its quiet atmosphere. Enjoy berry picking, ATVing, horseback riding, camping, and skiing in the Sandilands Provincial Forest. We recommend using the AllTrails app to find trails - contact us for our faves!
